A tart, espresso-forward drink that almost feels like a sour but not quite. The Reading Nook is best enjoyed with a thick book in the other hand.
What You'll Need
Equipment
- Cocktail shaker
- Hand-held milk frother
- Coupe glass
- Cocktail skewer
The Reading Nook
- 1.5oz tart cherry juice
- 2oz freshly pulled espresso
- 3/4oz orgeat syrup
- 4 drops 25% saline solution
- 1 egg white
- Orange peel for garnish
- Cocktail cherry for garnish
Build
- In a cocktail shaker, add the cherry juice, espresso, orgeat, saline, and egg white.
- Dry shake vigorously without ice for 45 seconds or use a hand-held milk frother to whip the mixture until doubled.
- Add ice to the shaker and shake again until the tins are chilled.
- Strain the drink into a coupe glass.
- Express an orange peel over the top of the drink.
- Spear a cocktail cherry and the spent peel on a garnish skewer and place it along the edge of the coupe.
