Hailing from the Rosaceae family, the raspberry in this drink lends a tart, refreshing bite to the sweet orange juice and coffee. It doesn’t sound like a combination that works but my word, does it ever.

What You'll Need

    • Plastic bag or mortar and pestle
    • Cocktail shaker
    • Espresso machine
    • Milk frother (optional)
    • Fine mesh strainer
    • Coupe glass

    • 3/4oz raspberry syrup (I prefer Liber & Co.)
    • 1.5oz fresh orange juice
    • 3 dashes cardamom bitters
    • 2oz freshly pulled espresso
    • Freeze-dried raspberry dust for garnish

    Build

    1. Crush a handful of freeze-dried raspberries in a plastic bag or with a mortar and pestle.
    2. In a cocktail shaker, add the raspberry syrup, orange juice, bitters, and espresso.
    3. Dry shake without ice for 30-40 seconds or use a hand-held frother to whip the mixture until doubled in size.
    4. Add ice into the shaker and shake again until the tins are frosted.
    5. Double strain the drink into a coupe glass.
    6. Dust the surface of the drink with the raspberry powder.
